Island of Mykonos May 2017

My name is Paul.  I live in Florida with my Greek partner, Constantine.  His wish for my birthday was that I fall in love with the country of his birthright.  Well, his wish was granted.  It's an amazing country with the warmest of people.  They are the product of ancient men coming together for millenniums for exchange of goods and ideas.   They have been hosting travelers for thousands of years with the greatest hospitality.  And oh, the food... there is nothing like eating in Greece.  If I hadn't walked everywhere I would have had to pay for excess weight.

This area is known as Little Venice

These are the famous Windmills of Mykonos.  EVERYBODY takes selfies here, and why wouldn't you?

Churches are everywhere.  I love the little foot paths between all the homes and businesses.

We had a seafood platter that evening. Grilled octopus, calamari and sardines.

I love this little light fixture.  There were rows of them.

Nikoleta's loom
Her Scarves

Nikoleta  weaves these scarfs on the loom.  This one is cashmere.
This spry woman has had her shop for over 35 years on the island.  The sad thing is that she can no longer find girls who are interested in the art of weaving on a loom to take over the shop. We needed more cash so she closed up her shop with a broom handle. Yes.  A broom handle and followed us up to the nearest ATM.  Constantine translated my jokes.

These are Greek Basics.  Greek Salad doesn't actually use lettuce.  Tomatoes, cucumbers, feta cheese, Calamata olives, onions, peppers, oregano and olive oil.  Souvlaki is the Greek hamburger.  They have meat (lamb), tomatoes, onions, tzatziki sauce, and french fries (homemade) in pita.  Stuffed grape leaves as appetizer.  Yes, everything is better than it looks.
